How One Outdoor Event Transformed Duch Digital Media's Employee Engagement

Image
With hybrid and remote work becoming the new norm, employee engagement has become a challenge for many organizations. As a company with a diverse workforce of millennials, Gen Z, and baby boomers, Duch Digital Media (DDM) faced similar struggles. We noticed a lack of connection between employees due to the virtual environment, which led to reduced productivity and overall job satisfaction. To tackle this problem head-on, we decided to plan an outdoor event that would reignite the spark of engagement among our team members.  After much deliberation, the team chose the picturesque Obudu Mountain Resort in Nigeria as the destination, and the experience was unforgettable. Our engagement levels skyrocketed, and our team emerged stronger and more united than ever before. In this blog post, we'll explore the benefits the outdoor team bonding event had on DDM and why your organisation needs to consider taking on an outdoor bonding adventure:  Outdoor Event Increased Connection and Col

Love, Hate and Hope: The story of Earth mother and I

Climate Change When I was very little, I remembered that the different seasons we had in Nigeria triggered different emotions.   The rain came, and with it, a moody, melancholy spirit that caused us to ponder about the nature of existence and its essence. The Harmattan season came during late November and lasted till January, ushering the joyous Christmas celebration and New Year, with new clothes to show off, big pieces of white meat that competed with our canines, and the gurgling of our stomachs caused by endless gallons of sweet drinks gingerly gulped down our throats. The Television was not awash with various natural disasters threatening to end human existence, and the beaches were a place of longing- a place away from the survival mode that has become accustomed to Nigerians. I will be 27 this year, lived more than 2 decades and things have certainly changed.  Let me tell you how: The Mmamiri river in mama's village has dried up. That river was called the river of life, no

Context: The Missing Plug in Target Audience Conversion,

Image
Target Audience Conversion in Marketing   The words ‘target audience’ has been so loosely used in marketing parlance today, that its true meaning has been overshadowed by the fanciful use of this term. It has become more than just a buzzword; it is almost like an entry pass to some marketing big boys club. This is, however, not intended to underestimate the importance of target audience in marketing, it is to say that just like rice and stew, there are other indices and factors equally important, if not more- in the success of a marketing campaign. Indeed, if it is solely omnipotent, why then does it seem like the people we term our target audience – who have been unjustly compelled to be the elixir of our business success, whether a service or a physical product– do not often convert. Please note that every business should have a buyer persona(s), if you don’t, then get down to it.  This is very dicey, because conversion strategies can take many forms – going for a scheduled meeti

Faux-Intellectuals and How to Pepper Dem. A Smart Woman View of Big Brother Nigeria 2019

Image
BBNaija 2019 Have you ever been judged for indulging in guilty pleasures? I certainly have. My friends have been questioning me lately about my love for Big Brother Nigeria (BBN). Most times, I am at a loss of what and how to reply to them without going into my usual pentecostal and energetic reply, so instead, I ignore them. But here's the thing: I'm tired of being put on the spot and made to feel like I have to defend myself. These questions range from “what do you see in BBN” to “how can you waste your time watching this. In reality, what they seem to mean with their words is - “How can someone as intelligent as you waste time on something as trivial as BBN?" It's like they have this delusion of grandeur as if their own intellectual pursuits make them better than those who enjoy mainstream entertainment" Who decided that being intelligent means you can't also enjoy popular culture? Why can't we be both smart and socially engaged?

Love Like Poetry

Heart, Love and Peace Eyes dark piercing into brown Chocolate skin melting against caramel's Magnetic opposite. Two worlds. One soul. They say he's a soup brimming with oil, bland and lifeless With words blasting like drums, I'm asked - "what did you see in him"? And oh, I'm the girl who eats a rock and swallows zero water I'm the girl with beaded waist and ringed ears Moving with rhythm like the bata drum My bum cheeks kissing each each other enticingly Soft like hot butter But you're more than shawarma, free WI-FI and credit alert Love Like Poetry With cares as little as a child, he tops the chart I've always known he was from another planet An alien being. How can one embody so much perfection? My blue boy... Another Chance to be Wiser - Germline Editing

Germline Editing             Photo: Shutterstock   Today's knowledge share is about Germline Editing So, imagine you could create the type of human we want. Whoever, whatever. For those looking for the perfect man or the perfect woman, here is your chance. Just like Kyle XY the movie (don’t ask me, just go watch it), you can choose features of body parts you want, make him/her resistant to a disease e.g HIV AIDS, for people who like it bare. (If you know, you know). This is called Germline Editing . Don't mind the big word. It just means editing your man's sperm or your woman's egg or somebody else embryo with the purpose of making genetically-modified children or children that meet specific characteristic features. Simple. It is almost like editing an MS Word document. Do I smell fear? or Excitement... Ahh, a little of both, or perhaps “end-time things” Well, this can be a good and bad thing. Imagine me telling my gynaecologist that
